The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Some 55 photographers from Latin America showed the best of their work on Friday in Costa Rica at “Expofoto”, the largest annual photography exhibition in the Central American country.
Artists from Argentina, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Canada and Colombia, as well as local photographers presented their best shots before thousands of people.
The exhibition, which runs through today, includes workshops, a trade show, talks and even a film series, as detailed today the organizers.
“Expofoto” which celebrates its third edition, is a stimulus-oriented festival of photography in Costa Rica, which has aroused great interest among the public.
In its first edition, in 2011, it received 5,000 visitors, and last year a total of 10,000 people attended to see the pictures.
“We wanted to provide a space for photographers to showcase their reality and share it with the public,” said the director of the event, Paulina Segura, in a statement.
“There are three important elements to Expofoto: education, art and resources. Based on this, it provides an event that allows visitors to learn about market trends, see photo exhibitions, participate in conferences in various topics related to photography and lots of free activities to enjoy, “explained Segura.
In the competition there were 213 people, from 17 countries, for a total of 945 pictures, grouped into four categories: conceptual, natural world, landscape and portrait. (EFE)
