With exactly 43,940 signatures, deputies will be asked to approve a law that establishes June 17 of each year to be the fixed date for the celebration of Father’s Day.
Spearheaded by the company Gollo, it will be filed with the Office of Popular Initiative of the Legislature. The collection of signatures was at 130 chain stores, located throughout the country, from the 1st to the 17th of June.
To present the proposal, they sought to collect 22 thousand signatures, however, it was shown possible to double the goal.
The bill, record 19,985, is supported by the deputy of the National Liberation Party, Rolando Gonzalez. They seek to amend Article 148 of the Labour Code, to add as Father’s Day holiday.
“We are very pleased to support this campaign. Costa Ricans were heard and are saying that dads deserve to celebrate their day on a fixed date, as we are proposing,” said Eduardo Cordoba, Marketing Manager Gollo.
