    International Tourism Conference Showcasing 280 Central American and European Vendors

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) โ€“ The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) announced that more than 100 European wholesalers and about 180 Central American vendors will participate in the Central America Travel Market Fair 2014 (CATM), which will be held in Costa Rica this October 9 and 10, in the Pedregal Events Center.

    Wilhelm von Breymann, Minister of Tourism in Costa Rica and member of the Central American Tourism Council (CCT), said that as hosts they expect attendees to enjoy the event and take advantage of the recent announcements made โ€‹โ€‹by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) which reported a 6% increase in international tourist arrivals for the first half of this year to do business.

    “CATM has become an exceptional showcase for promoting tourism in the Central American countries, and promoting the dissemination of multi-destination, tourism products and knowledge of the region,” he said.

    For Europeans who visit Costa Rica, the previous year 300,942 European arrivals were recorded to the country for an increase of 5.6% compared with 2012, mainly from Germany, Spain, France and the UK.

    Minister of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation in Belize and President Pro Tempore of the Central American Council of Tourism, said that the countries of the Central American Tourism Integration Secretariat (SICA) form a privileged region, with more than 500 thousand square kilometers and a population 53 million, accounting for an integrated international tourism market with a diverse, multicultural and complementary offering that includes more than 15 World Heritage Sites. (Crhoy)
