The National Meteorological Institute (IMN) forecasts windy conditions in Costa Rica this weekend.
According to the forecast, gusts of up to 80 km/h are expected, especially this Saturday.
“The winds will mainly affect the Central Valley and the North Pacific, with speeds ranging from 20 to 60 km/h. The most intense winds will be concentrated in northern Guanacaste and the mountain ranges,” reported the Meteorological Institute.
The IMN also indicated that low humidity levels will continue, so no significant cloud development is expected for most of the day.
As a result, the probability of rain will remain low throughout the country.
Next week
On the other hand, little rain is expected for Christmas week.
“Between December 22 and 28, the Intertropical Convergence Zone will be slightly further away from the national territory, which will favor both the Caribbean and the Pacific having less rain than normal,” explained Daniel Poleo, meteorologist at the IMN.
Meanwhile, starting on December 29, the dry season is expected to set in over the Pacific and the Central Valley.
The Caribbean and Northern Zone will maintain normal precipitation levels.
“We are forecasting that in the second week of January, we will begin to see slightly heavier than normal rainfall in the Pacific region, again as a result of the activation of the Intertropical Convergence Zone,” said the expert.
Despite being in the dry season, the Meteorological Service forecasts rainfall in the South Pacific and Central Pacific from January 5 to January 18.
In contrast, less than normal rainfall is expected on the Caribbean side.
