The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), together with tourism businesses in this country, has been participating, at the International Tourism Fair of Latin America (FIT) to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Then, later this week, ICT officials will attend the International Travel Fair Mark Latin America 2013 to be held in Quito, Ecuador.
“The economic boom they are experiencing certain Southern Cone countries translates into a great opportunity to continue the positioning of our destiny in these markets,” he said in a statement the Director of Marketing of ICT, Ireth Rodriguez.
Official data indicate that in 2012 Costa Rica received 136,356 tourists South Americans, representing about 7% of all foreign visitors to the Central American country.
At the fairs will be held rounds of negotiations between tourism operators, special presentations, seminars and conferences on the development of new tourism trends.
Costa Rica received 1.32 million tourists in the first half of 2013, down 2.7% higher than in the same period of 2012 (1.28 million), according to figures from ICT.
The country’s tourism authorities expect growth this year sector adheres to the estimates of the World Tourism Organization, which provide increased industry average between 3% and 4% globally.
