Romantic sites for tourist couples

It is never too late to go on a romantic couples getaway, to change your routine and disconnect for a little while. But it doesn’t have to be a long and costly trip to an expensive, touristy area. Sometimes it can be a good day tour to a place surrounded by natural beauty.

This is why we have given you some options so that you can travel to the corners of each region of Costa Rica and give life to the flame of love.

Bosque de Prusia

This forest is a good choice if you want go on a hike with your partner and enjoy a great day. The vegetation covers 16 kilometers and the tour gives you just what you are looking for. The forest shares in the land that is part of the National Park of Irazu.

The forest is located in Cartago, Tierra Blanca, 2 kilometers to the northeast driving to Volcan Irazu. The tour includes a hike of 4 to 5 hours and a picnic.

The park is open everyday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It costs 400 colones for children and senior citizens and 1000 colones for citizens older than 12 years.  The price for foreigners is $1 for children and $10 for adults.

They recommend bringing sport clothing, sunblock, a hat, and water. It is important to mention that the altitude of the zone can bring respiratory problems.

Laguna Manuel

A private place, surrounded by cypress trees, Laguna Manuel is a cozy place to spend with your partner. It is located at a height of 2,000 meters. This place is so vegetative and fresh that you can observe ducks, squirrels, frogs, and a variety of insects. In Laguna Manuel you can also find ranches where there are stations to rest, health services, and a camping ground.

The lagoon is located in Cartago. Using highway Interamericana Sur, drive toward Cerro de la Muerte. From the gas station El Empalme take a ride hand turn toward Santa Maria de Dota and drive 8.1 kilometers until you arrive at the site. You will be able to enjoy a hike of approximately 20 to 30 minutes around the lagoon, the path measures 1.5 kilometers around.

The park is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday. It costs 1500 colones per person, and kids are free.

The change of weather in this zone can be unpredictable, so it is important not to forget your jacket, hat, and umbrella.

La Ventolera

On this hill/pasture, you can observe a large part of the central valley. It has impressive views that you can’t resist, and you can take pictures so that it can be in you and your partner’s memory forever. You can walk through the surroundings of the hill/pasture, or also you can choose the option of bringing a blanket and a picnic basket to have a special moment between the two of you.

It is located in the Escazu mountains. Look for the street that leads to the water fountain, it should be only 40 minutes from the capital if you’re taking Highway 27.

The hill/pasture is free to enter.

It is suggested to bring a 4×4 vehicle, a sweater, and comfortable sport clothing.


Catarata del Toro

In the middle of the mountains and a forest, you can find a beautiful waterfall of 180 meters. This beautiful piece of property will offer you what you never would have expected. The waterfall, the location, the rock formation, the complete setup, the trees, the lookouts, the experience when you are in the old volcano, the flora and fauna. You and your partner will love it. You can enjoy the hike of approximately 20 minutes going down to the waterfall, and 30 to 45 minutes going up.

It is located 7 kilometers under the Toro in the province of Alajuela.

The park open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For citizens, it is 4000 colones for adults and 2000 colones for children. For foreigners, it is $10.
