Cashew nut butter is one of the latest products to be exhibited at the fair.
Would you like to try fried slices of breadfruit? How about cashew nut butter? Would you enjoy tasting rambutan wine?
These are some of the innovative ideas that will be presented in the “Fair and Congress of Innovative Ideas in the Food Industry”, which will take place on July 19th and 20th from 8 am until 5 pm at the Cuidad Tecnologica Mario Echandi located in Coyol, Alajuela.
The fair has been organized by the Learning National Institute and the National Technical University and it aims to show the newest in the food industry. Entrance is completely free and everyone is invited not only to attend, but also to taste the new products.
The career of Food Engineering of the National Technical University offers a course called Product Development, in which students implement innovative ideas. It used to be presented publicly, but only among the students´ families.
For this coming fair there are 8 student projects. Students created a prototype of their products at the laboratories of INA.
In addition, 34 PYMES and MIPYMES projects will be displayed around the country. Viviana Villegas, INA representative, said that an invitation was made to any person or group that would like to present their projects.
The profile of the participants range from people with higher or technical education to people who “only know how to read and write”, including women, adolescents, and adults.
Alongside the fair a congress will be held on both days. It will deal with important topics for entrepreneurs and innovative ideas. There will talks on issues such as: labeling of products, equipment for the baking industry, safety management, fruit processing, among others.
