The Costa Rica News (TCRN)- For Starbucks, Costa Rica has become an increasingly promising market, so much so that they have plans to open three or four new cafes in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GMA) of San Jose over the next year.

This was announced by Monica Bianchini, country manager for Starbucks, Monday, during the opening of the fifth store located on the west side of the national government building in La Sabana.

She said that they’re currently in negotiations to open two locations: one in San Jose downtown and one in Heredia. These are expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2015.

The newest Starbucks Coffee in Costa Rica, which opens tomorrow, has an area of 170 square meters. The other cafes are on Avenida Escazú, Lincoln Square, District 4 in Escazu and Freses Plaza Shopping Center. In total, the five locations provide employment to 77 people.

The franchise also has presence in other Central American countries: El Salvador and Guatemala, with plans to move into Panama next year. (El Financiero)
