SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica — Heavy metal passion has officially taken over La Sabana Park. Since Thursday, October 1st, dedicated fans of the iconic British band Iron Maiden have pitched tents outside the National Stadium, counting down every hour until the legendary group hits the stage on Thursday, October 8th.
For many, this is far more than just a concert—it is a long-awaited reunion. A full decade has passed since Iron Maiden last performed in Costa Rica, making this return one of the most anticipated musical events of the year.
Organized Shifts and Vacation Days for the Love of Metal
To maintain their spots at the front of the line without losing their livelihoods, fans have devised a system of organized shifts. Dedicated followers like VÃctor Segura and Terry Maroto are taking turns staying at the campsite, with several fans even requesting official time off or vacation days from work just to be part of the atmosphere.
“Camping out days in advance is an essential part of the whole experience,” shared one fan at the camp. “It’s where you meet fellow lovers of the music, swap stories, and build up the excitement together before the gates open.”
A Decade-Long Wait
The decade-long gap since Iron Maiden’s last Costa Rican show has only fueled the fans’ enthusiasm. For some, the passion for the band has taken them across borders. One fan camping in La Sabana recounted traveling all the way to Mexico during a previous tour to see the band live—an unforgettable journey that he now looks forward to reliving on home soil.
Counting Down to October 8
As the concert date approaches, the campsite outside the National Stadium continues to grow with shared music, stories, and unwavering dedication. After ten years of waiting, Costa Rican metalheads are showing that their passion remains as strong as ever as they prepare for an unforgettable night on October 8th.
