The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A new cruise will use Costa Rica as a starting point and tours the Pacific region of Central America which is rich in nature and culture, and may also become a factor that energizes tourism.
The route was opened this week at Puerto Caldera, Puntarenas Province, on the Pacific side of Costa Rica.
The first trip to Costa Rica started last Wednesday with 710 passengers, which were mainly American tourists.
For Costa Rica, this is the first time a cruise uses the port as a starting point, which also benefits the local industry because tourists must spend at least one night in the Costa Rican territory, officials said.
The Costa Rican Tourism Minister, Allan Flores, told reporters that this route, called the “Amazing Pacific”, is part of a strategy to attract more cruise ships and increase the flow of visitors.
“Our country offers tourist options for everyone, which focuses on the essential elements of quality, sustainability, innovation and differentiation, which allow us to provide a rich experience in culture and nature,” said the official. (EFE)
