The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The World Cup has not only played great impact in sports , it is well known that there is a significant commercial push, but one that was less expected was the increase in sales of TVs, tablets, and electronics.

Llobet Francisco, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Costa Rica, said establishments have reported a 50% increase in sales of home appliances in general. However, some reports claimed an increase between 70% and 80% in the sale of TVs and tablets.

Months before the World Cup began, the commercial prospects were positive, but not to the level they have reached with World Cup fever and the success of the tricolor. According to Llobet, many businesses also chose to make deals to captivate buyers, mainly related to electronic devices or screens.

“Many people have benefited by purchasing electronics during these specials, which means saving money for customers.  No one expected the joy that has come along with the good performance of the National Team, which makes people seek out more and buy bigger TVs to watch the game,” described Llobet.

Many think that a win tomorrow might mean that the upward trend in trade will continue.

    Expectation initially

In the days before the World Cup, traders were expecting a 20% increase in sales related to the development of the tournament.

Products that have an increased demand in recent days include: televisions, plasmas, cell phones, tablets and computers. So have some household items like grills, coolers and comfortable armchairs.

This Saturday’s match against the Netherlands will be played at 2:00 pm, and it is speculated that many bars and establishments have a fantastic turnout.
