The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Children’s Choir of the National Opera of Paris, the biggest choir in France, will be presented next Wednesday and Thursday at the National Theater of Costa Rica, local authorities reported today.
Through a joint press release, the Ministry of Culture and Youth and the National Theatre indicated that the choir will perform in San José at 20:00 local time (0200 GMT).
In the spectacular Costa Rica coronary play “L’Enfant et les spells: Fantaisie lyrique in deux parties” (El niño y los sortilegios: a lyrical fantasy into two parts), an opera in one act composed by Maurice Ravel between 1917 and 1925.
This choir is the largest in France and is comprised of 470 singers.
Since 1995, the National Opera of Paris takes on average about 180 shows a year and has been exhibited around the world in places like the UK, USA, and Canada.
Children also participate in the opera productions that require children’s voices, with parts as a whole and as soloists.
The group is directed by Gaël Darchen, who for more than 25 years has directed music projects with children and adolescents.
Darchen, when he was 29 years old, became director of the choir and in a few years it became the most attractive school in France, which has earned him recognition as one of the leading specialists in children’s voices.
The show is part of a special program of the International Arts Festival, which ended on April 13. (ACAN-EFE)
