The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Spanish company Gamesa will be responsible for building a wind farm of 50 megawatts (MW) in the province of Guanacaste, which will be owned by the company Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy (GME).
Gamesa will install 25 wind turbines which will supply two megawatts of power each in that area of the country and its installation will be completed by the end of the year. The plant will generate 32 gigawatt hours per year, in terms of housing, could supply between 3,000 and 4,000 homes.
The Spanish company will also focus on building the infrastructure that will be needed for the wind farm. Between that an electrical substation, high voltage lines and an interconnection network is being contemplated.
Additionally, the company will manage the operation for five years from that wind farm. At the same time the company will work with projects developed in Honduras and Nicaragua.
In Costa Rica this is the second appearance of Gamesa, since previously a wind farm was installed in the Los Santos of 12.75 MW.
