The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) announced that Southwest Airlines will have a new route between Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) and Juan Santamaría (SJO) International Airport, Costa Rica, which will start on March 7, 2015.
According to Wilhelm von Breymann, Minister of Tourism, the news was announced by Gary Kelly, president of the firm and is a daily nonstop, with Costa Rica being the first Central American destination for the airline.
“This is important news because it reinforces the hard work we have done together with dealers in the international airports in the country, attracting airlines from our major tourism markets,” noted the Minister.
For the first half of this year, the total international arrivals recorded by all ports shows North America has the largest number (712,458), of which 80% are international arrivals from the United States.
Just last year, the airline mobilized more than 100 million passengers, making it the largest domestic airline in the United States.
