The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Cristian Daniel is a 5 year-old boy who was born with cerebral palsy, which prevents him from walking and looking similar to that of boys his age.
His mother, Ginette Castillo, recalled that the small to medium Cristian was born early at five months, and since then have focused on providing the best quality of life.
And to help in this task, this boy is one of 100 of the beneficiaries of the donation of wheelchairs made by the Social Protection Board (JPS), as part of the Technical Assistance Program, which in 2013 reached an investment of 600 million colones.
As this with Cristian, there are dozens of families that will have relief with these modern and automatic wheelchairs.
To be beneficiaries of such aid, the process is slow because it requires a detailed analysis of health conditions which includes medical diagnosis, then a socio-economic analysis as well as other aspects that are taken into account.
As reported by Elizabeth Badilla spokeswoman JPS, each of these chairs is adapted to the particular conditions of the beneficiaries, so that there is no equal, which also delays the delivery time.
She also noted that there are still waiting lists both requests made directly to the JPS, or through institutions such as the National Rehabilitation Centre (CENARE).
