Dominic Miller on Tour in Costa Rica

He played alongside Sting since 1990; now you can see the guitarist live in performance tonight or at an up-close-and-personal event later this week.

Following trips to Cuba and Great Britain, the legendary Dominic Miller will step foot on Costa Rican soil tonight at the Jazz Cafe in Escazu. This will be his first solo tour in the country.

While accompanying Sting, their music was called a mixture of rock, jazz, reggae, classical, new-age and worldbeat. Miller’s solo work, thus, has been appropriately labeled “Jazz Fusion.” It is an easy-going style with brief elements of neo-exotic funk that will take you to an ethereal state.

Miller has also worked with Phil Collins on the 1989 record But Seriously. He has been featured in the work of Tina Turner, Paul Young, Peter Gabriel and many more.

The Concert

Here in Costa Rica, Miller will be accompanied by Michael Lindup on keyboard. The opening act will be played by Carlos Delgado and Nelson Segura, but other national artists will be invited on stage throughout the event.

Tickets range between ₡27,500 and ₡32,500 and can be purchased online at SpecialTicket.net, over the phone at 2528-8778, or at an authorized vendor: Bansbach, Grupo Mutual, Servimas, Hard Rock Café and Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano. Credomatic customers will receive a 10% discount.

Doors open tonight at 8pm.

Personal Encounter

For those who cannot make tonight’s concert, or those who simply want a more personal experience with the guitarist, Universidad VERITAS has arranged a special encounter on Friday, October 16th. Beginning at 6pm, the event will take place at the Roberto Sasso Sasso Auditorium at U VERITAS.

According to the VERITAS press release:

The encounter will be very spontaneous, and aims to give a message to the participants that motivates them to aspire to the top. Later there will be a gathering where [Miller] will offer autographs and photographs.[/quote_box_center]

While the event is open to the general public, U VERITAS students and Credomatic customers will receive 10% off the $150 ticket price.
