The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Minister of Culture of Costa Rica, Manuel Obregon, said today that the cultural sector is mourning the death of the Spanish Flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia, who was a “Latin American legend for all generations.”

Obregon plans to pay homage to the artist during the VI Iberoamerican Congress of Culture, to be held in Costa Rica from April 11 to 13, and will ask those present to observe a minute of silence in reflection for the importance of Paco de Lucía’s life.

“He’s a musician we admire so much. Paco achieved greatness through flamenco, generating an enormous enrichment with his guitar for the entire Latin American community,” said Obregon.

The Costa Rican minister, who is also a musician, composer and producer, recalled the moments he shared with the Spanish artist, who died Tuesday at a hospital in Cancun (Mexico).

“I met him many years ago when he came to play in Costa Rica and after living in Spain. Sharing the stage with him touched me,” said Obregon.

The guitarist died in a private hospital in Playa del Carmen, south of Cancun (Mexico), after suffering a heart attack. (ACAN-EFE)
