Go, experience the richness of Central American culture for FREE this weekend during Escazu’s folkloric festival and arts fair.

It’s the holiday season, and the month of December is already filling up with fairs, festivals and activities. For example, the International Folkloric Festival (FIF) is now 6 days in, with one busy weekend remaining!

    Festival Internacional Folclorico Escazu

Originally, FIF was an initiative brought forth by the Mesa de Folclor Escazuceña, a group of folkloric dancers who work in conjunction with the Municipality of Escazu to provide opportunities for cultural enrichment to the public. The days of the festival lead up to Escazu’s cantonato or annual local celebration which is officially marked on December 7th.

Today FIF is in its 3rd year running and includes participants from all over Central America celebrating a wide range of artistic traditions. Festivities continue tonight beginning at 7pm, tomorrow 3pm on and Sunday after 5pm.

    Feria de Arte Embrujarte

While in the area, be sure to stop by Escazu’s Bewitched Art Fair taking place at the San Rafael Plaza next to the Plaza Colonial Mall. This annual tradition, launched back in 2007, boasts over 1200 artists of both Costa Rican and foreign origins.

Entrance to the fair is free, but you’ll want to be sure to bring your cash to this exhibition of some of the region’s finest talents. The grounds are open from 10am until 9pm, from now until Sunday. Visit the fair’s Facebook event to preview some of the artists in attendance.
