Rio de Janeiro [TCRN] – The Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) has been in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to represent Costa Rica and participate in the Rio +20 Summit.
More than 190 nations and 50,000 are in attendance with participants are from, governmental bodies, civil society and business at the Riocentro Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Earth Summit, called the Rio +20.
Dr. José Joaquin Campos, Director General of CATIE will be presenting Community Agroforestry in Central America: Climate and safety and the preservation of Forests. Other presentation includes, Livestock and Environment, as well Economy and Environment.
Some of the specifics for discussion are, systems for the development of carbon neutral products in milk and meat, designing development policies, and environmental services on economic operators.
CATIE’s goals are focused on achieving political policies that promotes a shift towards a green economy and social development for the planet and a governing body to be responsible for directing these changes.
