The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The possibility for Costa Ricans to visit a tourist place during Easter is not a reality for many families, which is confirmed by a survey of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) which states that four out of ten hotel rooms will be occupied by Ticos.
The executive director of the group, Tatiana Cascante, mentioned that domestic tourism is mainly lower because of the economic factors of vacationing.
When asked if applied the rise in prices due to the increase in the exchange rate was a problem, she replied it was more because many of the services have also risen.
The greatest expectation of local tourism is concentrated in the Central Pacific (55.94%) and Guanacaste (48.53%).
The preference for the Costa Rican beach hotels is at projected at 49.34%, while the most optimistic in the categories are establishments with 2 stars (83%) and 60 to 99 rooms (60.61%).
