    New Airport Proposal in Limon Hopes to Revamp the Caribbean Coast

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Associates of Mel Group met with members of the Social Christian Unity Party (PUSC) to negotiate the construction of an airport in Limon, with a main runway 11,000 feet long.

    This investment, according to the president of the company, would generate approximately 2,500 direct jobs and 8,000 indirect jobs. A total investment of close to $700 million is expected and it is estimated that its construction
    could be attainable within three years.

    Limon deputy Luis Vasquez, was very optimistic and pleased with the proposal made by these entrepreneurs.

    “We are talking about huge benefits to the Atlantic region and new jobs that will improve the quality of life of our residents. From the start of the build to its regular operation, the airport will bring regional growth, incorporating the creation of new opportunities for educational, transport, trade, tourism, and industry,” said the deputy.

    Businessman Ruben Acón Toy, president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Limon, expressed
    optimism, “Because this is the type of project that the province needs to grow economically.”
