The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The campaign against the racism that spread through social networks after Dani Alves ate a banana at a Barcelona soccer game had been planned for Neymar, who waited for the right time to help his fellow team member.

A Brazilian advertising firm said Wednesday that the campaign had prepared for Neymar to condemn racism against his client, but used the gesture to throw Alves.

Neymar, who was nearby when a banana was launched onto the field during a friendly Brazil against Scotland in 2011 in London, recently faced racist abuse in Spain with Barcelona.

The campaign sparked after Neymar posted a picture with a banana in support Alves. Several players, celebrities and politicians did the same.
