The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – After the opening of the tourism and marketing conference Expotur, 2,500 business meetings were conducted and recorded, according to organizers, and it was attended by 6,000 people.

According to José Llaguno, Executive Director of Acoprot (Costa Rican Association of Tourism Professionals), the event served as a chance to exchange information and cross interests between exhibitors and international buyers.

A total of 290 domestic companies and 180 buyers from over 37 countries at the large commercial level (the majority profile is wholesale travel agencies and tour operators) were in attendance.

The most represented niches were in cultural tourism, sun and beaches, conferences and conventions, weddings, and educational tourism.

Among the countries for the first time at the show included: Bulgaria, Israel, Greece, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
