    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The medical community in Costa Rica is moving dramatically especially the Heredia Hospital after successfully performing a penis transplant on a 23-year-old who suffered from cancer in his member.

    According to sources, the surgery was a success and was lead by urologist, Dr. Alberto Fuentes.

    The patient is newly married and is recovered in this medical center.

    Penile Cancer

    Penile cancer has no specific cause but is associated with patients who have chronic inflammatory diseases such as infections of the glands and infections from the human papilloma virus.

    When lesion or lumps appear, a penectomy is usually performed, which can be total or partial. When the operation is partial, usually a third of the penis is amputated and already in this condition is very difficult with the patient’s have a proper sexual relationship.

    Penile cancer is not among the 10 most common cancers for men, but should be taken seriously and if symptoms appear should be looked at by a medical professional.
