The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The first organized Cage-a-thon of the Animal Rescue Zoo sowed the seed of reflection and education on captive wildlife in Costa Rican homes.
Many see them as pets but some species of birds and animals like monkeys need to live free in their natural environments.
Thus was born this initiative, which met Saturday, including dozens of families on site in La Garita de Alajuela.
The activity was to collect as many cages as possible to prevent them from being used as enclosures for wild and domestic animals.
As confirmed by Joshua Sanchez, spokesman for the Animal Rescue Zoo, they were able to collect over a hundred cages and have already destroyed 20.
