    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A diverse and artistic display of blossoming plants, mostly orchids, is only one part of the offer of “Feria Lankester de las Artes y las Flores”, to be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Lankester Botanical Garden of the University of Costa Rica (UCR).

    This festival is turning into an annual event with the aim of offering entertainment and education to art and nature lovers, said researcher JBL, Warner Jorge Pineda.

    There will be exhibition booths and plant sales, especially orchids, while students and professors of the school of fine arts will exhibit and sale their work of ceramics, painting, sculpture, printmaking and other handmade creations.

    Opening hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm . Entry costs for adults ¢ 2,000 , ¢ 1,000  for students and children. The Lankester Botanical Garden is located on Paradise Road in Cartago.

    During the festival, arts and cultural groups with marimba music, maroon and urban jazz will be presented. The Music School at UCR, will offer a guitar concert by Oscar Jimenez, accompanied by clarinet Yamileth Perez, both students of the University.

    On Sunday the Brazilian duo Kalú will perform at 1 pm and Café Surá group, at 3 pm. For Youngsters a theater with Amurai’s work will be offered on Saturday 29, at 2:00 pm.

    Visitors wishing to make the journey through the different collections of plants from the Garden will have guides and information service, run by students of the Campus Ecotourism Paradise of the UCR.

    Both on Saturday and Sunday a basic workshop on growing orchids (for which pre-registration is required) will be held.

    Additionally, there is the opportunity to enjoy typical meals prepared by Carthage women.

    Festival Hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm .Cost of entry ¢ 2000 adults, students and children ¢ 1000. The Lankester Botanical Garden is located on Paradise Road in Cartago.
