Enjoy Cultural Activities This Weekend to Celebrate Father's Day in Costa Rica

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Although the celebration of Father’s Day is not as commercial as Mother’s Day, Costa Ricans will pay tribute to the progenitor every third Sunday of June. To celebrate him there are a number of activities during this weekend.

    As usual, in different parks of the capital the “Fall in love with your city” campaign will have activities for families to enjoy. In Spain Park, Morazán, Peace Garden, La Merced and other scenes will be recreational games, art exhibitions, theater, music and dance for everyone.

    Also at the National Theatre will be held this Saturday, June 14 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, June 15 at 6:00 pm, the presentation of “Symphonic Jazz Concert at night” by the Band of San José, along with guest musicians. The entrance fee is ¢5.000; students and seniors with ID, ¢3.000.

    By Sunday, the Concert Band will present their music in different provinces. La Banda de Alajuela offers its repertoire, at 10 am at the Central Park Alajuela; Band Heredia, is presented at the same hour, in Central Park in the province.

    Late Night will be the turn of the Band of Guanacaste in the Parque de Santa Cruz from 7:00 pm and finally the band Lemon closes the concerts of “Father’s Day” with a musical show, at 7:30 pm, in the courtyard of the Cathedral of Limón.

    But if your dad likes graphic arts: The National Museum will be the exhibition “Three bands: Miscegenation, syncretism and hybridization in the Latin American sound space”. It shows through objects, platforms, structures, screens and colors, the Latin American musical history from the sixteenth century to the late twentieth century.

    The National Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 pm to 4:30 pm; and Sunday from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The entrance for locals is ¢1,500; children under 12, students with ID and seniors are admitted for free.
