The Costa Rica News (TCRN) –The National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) areas most visited by Costa Ricans during the first eight days of the midterm holiday are San Carlos, Puntarenas and the Pacific, with occupations hovering over 73.75%.
The study was conducted in the third week of this month using 115 lodging establishments for tourists in all regions of the country, making a total of approximately 4,820 rooms.
Heriberto Pablo Abarca, Canatur president, said that after the conclusion of the holiday a new survey will be conducted to see how the behavior was in the end.
Abarca said that the perception is that security by the security forces, the Tourist Police and the Coast Guard was reinforced during the first week of vacation and confirmed operations have been performed.
The director of the Tourist Police, Xinia Vásquez, said that the police force has identified strategic sites with increased visitation and human resources has been directed to provide recommendations to attract more tourists and police presence.
The beachfront lodging establishments handle the highest level of expectation as it recorded an average of 73.45%, followed by mountain hotels with 66.39% and 55.53% for city hotels.
