The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Japanese coffee maker, Hidenori Izaki won Thursday’s World Barista Challenge, held in Rimini, Italy, with his Costa Rican coffee, Monte Copey.
The information was published in Italian media and confirmed this morning by Exclusive Coffees Costa Rican company.
Izaki, who works with the Maruyama Coffee chain in Nagano, Japan, surpassed representatives from a dozen countries, including a participant from El Salvador, who finished in sixth place. Maruyama is known for offering high quality coffee from Costa Rica in Japan.
In the case of Monte Copey, the finca is located between 1,800 and 1,900 meters above sea level, near the town of Santa Maria de Dota.
Monte Copey coffee is known for its different varieties of coffee flavors such as tropical fruit, caramel and vanilla.
