The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – At a special meeting of the Full Court on Tuesday September 16, 2014, which lasted for more than six hours, a new budget adjustment for the Ministry of Finance was decided on and over 4 billion colones was saved.
A technical proposal prepared by the Planning Department of the Judiciary, proposed cuts in travel and expense items abroad, training, protocol activities and disposal of substitutions per training.
Specifically, it was agreed to reduce the following items: foreign travel by 75%, excluding the Agency Department of Judicial Investigation (OIJ) who must travel as part of their research; regarding the departure of substitute staff, it was agreed to approve the technical recommendation and reduce it by 50%; for training activities they proposed to decrease the budget by 25%.
The creation of new positions was reduced to 57 seats allocated to OIJ, affecting services to vulnerable populations such as indigenous people, victims, restorative justice program, juvenile and child support.
However, the final approval on these agreements is postponed until Monday, September 22.
