The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Officials from the Ministry of Public Security located and destroyed 38,500 marijuana plants in a wooded area of Alto Bley, in the canton of Talamanca, Limón.

According to official reports, the operation was carried out jointly with other authorities after confidential reports on such plantations had been under investigation for some time.

After several hours of walking through a difficult and dangerous sector, the agents found a huge planting and thoroughly searched the area for drug traffickers, who are usually heavily armed.

However, the plantation owners were not there.

Law enforcement confirmed the discovery of 35,000 marijuana plants, most more than five feet tall.
