The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – According to security forces data, the police stopped on average four criminals per day in San Jose during the first quarter of 2014.

According to the Police Intelligence Department of the Armed Forces from January to July in the central town of San José, the officers arrested 67 people red-handed, plus they had 318 arrests of men and women on court orders.

The regional director of the security forces of San José, Juan Carlos Arias, admits that it’s difficult to have total control over a million people who move every day through the central district of the capital. Over time they have learned to address and patrol the specific areas where more incidents are recorded.

“Being positioned in key areas and by making frequent interventions in the capital has increased the number of arrest warrants and criminals arrested in the act,” said Arias.
