The Costa Rica News (TCRN) –The Costa Rica National Team is at position 15 in the world ranking prepared by the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA).

Last July, the Sele was ranked 16. But besides updating the FIFA ranking in August, one of the great joys of Costa Rica football comes from a first time historical ranking as number one in CONCACAF.

This event is thanks to the participation of the tricolor in the World Cup, where they played some of the globe’s greatest teams and reached the quarterfinals.

That’s why FIFA highlighted the location of the National Team, and was mentioned in a note published on its website.

“Reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup earned Costa Rica 15th place, while the United States dropped three, which means that the Ticos are now at their highest position since the introduction of the ranking in 1993,” FIFA said.

The only movement that occurred in the Top 15, was the appearance of the tricolor.
