    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) –The Ministry of Health is preparing for the declaration of a ‘green alert’ for chikungunya in the country.

    According to the Director of Health Surveillance, Dr. Mary Ethel Trejos, they are already collecting all the specific information to be presented to the National Emergency Commission and thus have a well-founded declaration.

    “We will work in a similar way as was done with the influenza pandemic. The idea is that there are clear guidelines for schools, health centers and workers to make it everyone’s responsibility, and that people are not only expecting the government to eliminate breeding sites of mosquitoes that transmit the disease,” explained Dr. Trejos.

    The idea of ​​this green alert is to have the financial resources to carry out concrete actions to reduce the spread of the disease.
