The Costa Rican News (TCRN) – The Post Office of Costa Rica announced the limited issuance of a postage stamp for 15,000 units which pays tribute to the first anniversary of the pontificate of Pope Francis.

The issue, called “The Pope Francis: a year of Pontificate” consists of 15,000 stamps illustrated with a portrait of Pope, designed by Costa Rican artist Juan Manuel Delgado Mendez.

The oil portrait was personally delivered to the Pope by Delgado on October 9.

President of the Board of the Post Office, Álvaro Rodríguez, Francisco said that the pope has become “a benchmark for humanity regarding the search for a more equitable and inclusive society.”

“His many activities have focused on spreading a message that transcends religion to encompass social, economic and political issues in search of a world with more social justice,” Rodriguez said. (ACAN-EFE)
