The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – According to Health Ministry data, daily waste production has decreased by 5.5%. The authorities claim that awareness of protecting the environment and more recycling has increased by Costa Ricans.

“The recovery of recyclable waste has a great impact on the environmental health of the Costa Rican population. Between eight of these centers they recycle over 108 kilos of different valuable materials in the last two years,” said Director of Protection of the Human Environment Ministry, Eugenio Androvetto.

The Health Ministry states that this decline has been achieved through the joint efforts of NGOs and local governments.
