    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Convergys, a U.S. company dedicated to customer service tasks, today announced it will expand its presence this year in Costa Rica and will hire 700 employees.

    The company said in a statement that new workers will be hired over the next six months and will work in the areas of sales, customer service and expert technical support.

    “Convergys is fully committed to Costa Rica and our operation in the country remains strong. We take pride in the achievements of the past five years and we are confident that we will continue building and celebrating successes,” said the PR manager for Latin America, Eugenia Rojas.

    Since arriving in Costa Rica in 2009, the U.S. firm has hired 1,500 workers for the three customer service center in the country.

    These people work in the areas of sales, medicine, telecommunications, networking and finance.

    Convergys’s announcement came two days after the technology giant Intel announced the closure of its microprocessor manufacturing plant in Costa Rica by the end of 2014 with the gradual dismissal of 1,500 employees. (ACAN-EFE)
