UCR will not use the Green Arena

The University of Costa Rica will move its headquarters to another stadium for the upcoming 2016 Winter Tournament, at least for the start of the contest because the Green Arena is undergoing a series of works to fix the natural field.

As if that were not enough, La Prensa Libre learned firsthand that the University presented the National and Coyella Fonseca stadiums as their headquarters to meet the requirements of Fifa, and to opt for the license participation, which has already been delivered to them.

The new president of Platel Alma Mater, Oscar Chavarria, confirmed that these medium repairs at their stadium forced them to move the headquarters for a couple of months, although they do not rule out playing the tournament outside the building of the “U “.

“Unfortunately, the repairs were delayed and we will have to wait for the month of September until the works are completed, which are mainly in the field where they are working their drains and other aspects. We have the National and Coyella Fonseca stadiums as alternate fields and depending on the gam,e we will play in one or the other, “said Chavarria.

Chavarria said the idea is to return to Green Arena for the month of September, but the problem is they can not use it if the issue of lighting and time is not fixed. Currently in the housing management of the University of Costa Rica has no budget to install the artificial light.

“Jobs do not provide the lighting, that’s something that corresponds to the administration of the University and so far we have indicated that there is no budget, so we will wait until September, so other venues must be considered,” added the hierarch.

The first debut of the University is when they play in Alajuela against Carmelita and on the second day they will be at home against Saprissa headquarters because that commitment is scheduled for Wednesday, July 20.

The “U” continues to carry out its preseason work with the addition of the players Elias Palma, Victor Chavarria, and Bryan Solorzano, but it is expected that there will be an arrival of 3 or 4 new reinforcements, mainly in defense and attack, in the coming days.
