    Tropical Storm Barry Makes Landfall in Mexico

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) โ€“ Tropical Storm Barry made landfall on Thursday in the Mexican coast, in the state of Veracruz, with sustained winds of 65 miles per hour, leaving heavy rain and some flooding.

    According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) of the United States, the center of the storm, which formed in the Gulf of Campeche, made landfall in the early hours of Thursday afternoon about 60 kilometers northwest of the city of Veracruz .

    Barry is the second tropical storm of the Atlantic season and moved about seven miles an hour to the west.

    So far no damage has been reported in Veracruz, but emergency services prepared shelters after warnings from meteorologists that heavy rains could cause flash floods and landslides.
