Tico Novelist Awarded a Spot on Julio Ortega’s "Best Reads of the Year" List

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The renowned Latin American critic and literary scholar, Julio Ortega , has placed Costa Rican writer Carlos Cortés on his “Best Reads of the Year” list for his book, Larga noche hacia mi madre (Long night for my mother), published in August 2013.

Long night for my mother tells the love-hate relationship that keeps a child with his mother at the time in which she is dying.

Corté said it is a great honor being chosen for Ortega’s list and “An excellent Christmas present.” This is also an opportunity for the novel to reach more countries, which is currently being distributed in Central America, and working to reach Mexico, United States, Spain and digital stores in 2015.

Julio Ortega is a critic, essayist, teacher, poet and one of the most important Peruvian writers in Latin America, for his reflections on literature and its relation to history and society.

Ortega is also a professor at Brown University in the United States, where he has lived for 30 years. (Amelia Rueda)
