The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Three earthquakes between 3.7 and 4.4 magnitude on the Richter scale shook Costa Rica yesterday but there were no reports of property damage or injured people said the National Seismological Network (RSN).
The strongest quake occurred at 13:21 local time (19:21 GMT) off the central Pacific coast of the country, which had a magnitude of 4.4 and a depth of 1 kilometer, according to data from the RSN.
The epicenter of the movement started in the Pacific Ocean, 18 kilometers south of Jacó, Puntarenas province. It was caused by a fault line in the crust of the Caribbean plate.
The quake was felt strongly in the central Pacific coast and mildly in other parts of the country.
A few hours earlier, at 09:59 (15:59 GMT), the RSN recorded another earthquake, this time in the Caribbean, which had a magnitude of 3.7 and a depth of 12.4 miles.
The epicenter was in Panama and 17 kilometers southwest of the Costa Rican community Sixaola, which borders Panama.
At 8:30 local time (14:30 GMT) was the first earthquake of the day with a magnitude of 3.9 and centered in the North Pacific, near the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
This earthquake occurred at a depth of 4.6 kilometers and is located 80 kilometers west of La Cruz, a province of Guanacaste (North Pacific).
Officials reported no damage or injured by these movements.
