The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The tech company Avaya and the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer (MLS) announced that the new home of the Earthquakes will be officially known as the “Avaya Stadium”. Both organizations have also made a multiyear agreement for the installation of state-of-the-art Avaya technology in all areas with the goal of delivering one of the best and most complete experiences in MLS.
The Avaya Stadium is currently under construction on Coleman Avenue adjacent to the San Jose International Airport. It is expected that the European-inspired building will be the first MLS site with cloud-based technology and one of the most technologically advanced in the world stage.
Thanks to these cloud-based technologies, the Earthquakes can easily and continuously add new features to enhance the experience of their fans. Avaya Labs will work closely with the team to increase engagement with their fans using next-generation technologies. Ultimately, Avaya and the Earthquakes will deliver interactive, immersive and social experiences to enrich the powerful connection between the fans and the game.
The construction of the stadium with 18,000 seats is scheduled for completion when Earthquakes go on court in March 2015. Currently five Latin American players are part of the team:
1. Victor Bernardez of Honduras – Defender
2. Cordell Cato of Trinidad and Tobago – Middle Camper
3. Shaun Francis of Jamaica – Defender
4. Khari Stephenson Jamaica – Middle Camper
5. Jason Hernandez, Puerto Rican origin born in New York – Defender
The San Jose Earthquakes are one of 20 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). The club won crowns in 2001 and 2003 and took home the Supporters’ Shields in 2005 and 2012. They are led by Chris Wondolowsk, the MVP of the 2012 Volkswagen MLS and one of the most prolific scorers in league history. The club will move to Avaya Stadium for the MLS season of 2015. The organization was founded in 1974 and was one of the 10 founding members of the MLS when the League began in 1996.
