    The Foreign Ministers of Central America Prepare a Presidential Summit

    The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The foreign ministers met this week in Costa Rica to prepare the presidential summit of the Central American Integration System (SICA) to be held in Costa Rica on June 26.

    The Costa Rican Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo said in a statement that the meeting with his colleagues, served to review and refine the agenda and working papers that address the presidents at the summit.

    “This is essentially all that relates to the reforms of SICA, audit systems, equalization of rotation of the main (parts) of the system and their respective officers, so that is a watch we’re riding for the system work better” , says Castillo.

    Another point raised by the ministers today is the next entry SICA as a full member of the Dominican Republic, in which all countries agree.

    “There is a strong political will in favor of the income of Dominican Republic. What we are discussing is the mechanism to be used so that it can fully integrate,” said Castillo.

    On the other hand, the Panamanian Foreign Minister Fernando Nunez Fabrega said in a separate statement that his country supports modifications to SICA as the creation of a Secretariat of Democratic Security and reforms of various departments like General, the Economic Integration and Integration Central Social.

    “It was agreed a more orderly, balanced and equitable rotation of the secretariats to ensure the effective participation of representatives of the different countries in different organs and streamline its operation,” noted Nunez.

    The meeting was attended by foreign ministers of Costa Rica, Enrique Castillo, of Guatemala, Luis Fernando Carrera, and Fernando Nunez Fabrega Panama.

    In addition, the deputy foreign ministers of Nicaragua, Valdrack Jaentschke, of El Salvador, Hugo Martinez of Honduras, Mireya Agรผero, and the Dominican Republic, Caesar Dargam.

    Also attended by Secretary General of SICA, Juan Daniel German, and the Ambassador of Belize in San Jose, Alfredo Martinez.
