The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Today Costa Rican weather authorities issued a warning that strong winds are creating choppy seas in the North Pacific and the Caribbean.
According to the Ocean Information Module (MIO) of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), the combination of a high pressure system in the North Atlantic and lows in South America are accelerating the wind in the coming days and creating rough waves in the Caribbean and North Pacific regions.
For the Caribbean, waves will begin to rise on Saturday, reaching 3.3 meters. The waves will die down around Thursday.
The wind started today in the North Pacific, with gusts over 60 mph and 2.2 meter waves.
In both cases the authorities are urging small boats to use extreme caution.
The MIO reported that conditions in the Central Pacific will be “good for sailing,” however, starting Sunday powerful waves will require extra caution when swimming or on the beach. (ACAN-EFE)
