    MOPT Still No Solution to the General Cañas Cavern

    San Jose [TCRN] – The Minister of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) said they do not yet have a final solution to the giant cavern that opened on the General Cañas highway causing series traffic issues on routes that connect the provinces of Heredia, San José and Alajuela, for more than 15 days.

    The Ministry and the National Roads Authority (CONAVI) are still awaiting the recommendation of the engineers responsible for conducting inspections.

    Meanwhile, with no solution yet is sight, the Conservation Manager of Roads and Bridges engineer stated that work continues, although they do not yet have permission from the Directorate of Geology and Mines (DGM), Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) and are awaiting studies on structure and design.

    In addition, Vargas said crews had already surveying the Costa Rican Oil Refinery (RECOPE) to plan the new pipe will be removed next week.
