Keylor Navas and Jorge Luis Pinto Awarded Best Player and Coach of 2014 by CONCACAF

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas and Colombian coach Jorge Luis Pinto were named player and coach of the year on Tuesday by the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).

In the second place for player of the year was Costa Rican Bryan Ruiz, while third place went to American goalkeeper Tim Howard.

The now Honduras coach, Jorge Luis Pinto, beat coach Luis Fernando Suarez from Honduras and Alajuela coach Oscar Ramirez, who took second and third place respectively.

“Navas had an outstanding performance during the World Cup 2014 in Brazil, and continues to perform spectacularly with Real Madrid, the Spanish League,” said the CONCACAF site.

The winner for female player of the year was US forward, Abby Wambach, followed by a Costa Rican who plays for Paris Saint Germain, Shirley Cruz.

Ticos also swept the awards was the best goals: The goal that Ruiz made on Italy in the World Cup, the goal by Esteban Ramirez in the Herediano-Saprissa game from the previous November, and the goal made by Joel Campbell, who opened the way to “La Sele” against Uruguay, were all praised as the best goals of the 2014 CONCACAF.
