Women from Leon XIII Clean Up Their Community

The clean up relied on the support of local mayor, Carlos Cascante

Some 50 members of The Association of Improvement in Leon XIII participated in the cleaning of the community of Garabito as a part of The Love Project, Cleaning and Recycling.

The project counted on the support of the community mayor, Carlos Cascante. The local government provided the necessary tools for the work including brooms, shovels, trashbags, shirts, and gloves.

Cascante said, “On part of the local government it is an honor to support this group of women. They are giving a good example of Leon XIII and they are ready to colaborate with other districts”.

“Here are women who are leaders, their association needs helps from the private sector to continue with this and other similar projects,” added Cascante.

The mayor also commented that the local government is looking for support from both private and public sectors to in turn support projects like this.

Cecilia Picado, leader of the movement, was thankful for the support offered by the local government and made a call to the private sector for support so that The Association of Women leaders can continue with the projects they currently have.

“We have a recycling program in which we’re the ones who go out into the streets to clean up what we can. We want to have a supply center in the district. The idea is to have a group that will complete social projects to help the local communities. The Association was founded in 2008 and we hope to continue with these types of initiatives,” said Picado.
