The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Costa Rican authorities are investigating citizen reports about a helicopter that has been seen flying over the country, especially in the Caribbean, with a fake Red Cross symbol on it.
The Costa Rican Red Cross reported that it has a helicopter in the country, but they have not authorized anyone to use their emblems, which supports the research activities undertaken by the Costa Rican government.
“Specialized staff from the Ministry of Public Security have undertaken the major task of tracking the helicopter carrying illegal emblems of the Red Cross, which is jeopardizing the integrity of people and our good corporate image,” the Red Cross said in a statement.
The relief organization asked the public to cooperate with the authorities and report any sightings of the helicopter in the country.
“Our latest reports have determined that the helicopter was circling the area of Siquirres, Limón (Caribbean), however it can quickly move to other provinces of the country, so we must be vigilant to the situation,” said the organization.
Authorities suspect that the helicopter is being used by drug traffickers. (EFE)
