The European Film Festival, which will show eight cinematographic works from the Old Continent, will be held in Costa Rica from June 1st through June 17th.
The festival includes films from genres such as comedy, drama and documentary. Each film explores a different theme such as love, human rights, and the environment.
All the films will be screened in their original languages with Spanish subtitles.
In addition, the European Film Festival is to mark the official reopening of Cine Magaly.
“We are very pleased to announce these events, the film festival and the reopening of such important theater. The public will have the chance to see good cinema from other perspectives and I am sure the audience will enjoy it,” said Laura Molina, Director of the Costa Rican Center of Cinematographic Production.
The Festival is organized by the Embassies of the European Union, the Delegation of the European Union to Costa Rica, and the Consulate of Austria.
“You will see very different films and they will show you a touch of European culture; the 8 films have been well selected,” stated Werner Lehmann, spokesman for the German Embassy.
The films that will be showing in the festival are: “Welcome to Germany”, “Klimt” from Austria, “Pauline and Paulette” from Belgium, “También la lluvia” from Spain, “Untouchables” from France “Sonny Boy” from Holland, “Up in smoke” from the UK and “Generation 1000 Euros” from Italy.
The screenings will be held at 4pm and 7pm. Tickets to each show cost ¢1800 for general public and ¢1000 for students.
