China Agrees to $24 Million Development Grant for Costa Rica During Presidential Visit

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rica government has announced that a Chinese grant of $24 million will be invested in projects for the National Development Plan.

The donation was a surprise from the Chinese Government to the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis and his delegation, who are on an official visit to China this week,

“We did not expect such a generous offer of cooperation. We will define its use in development projects and investment in a new vision of relations between the two countries, as strategic partners, we will promote plans for mutual benefit,” President Solis explained in a statement.

Solis, who will end his visit to China on Friday, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, in order to move towards a relationship of “strategic partners” in investment projects and policy dialogue.

Among other things, today China and Costa Rica signed an agreement to start work on a special economic zone in Costa Rican territory to assist the development of regions by following models that were successful in China. (ACAN-EFE)
